Before starting her career in Health and Wellness, Claire worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Graduating from Emerson College in Boston, with a Bachelors in Communications Management, Claire, as she says, “stumbled” into the hospitality industry. While adoring the interactions with people, Claire felt there was more to her work life than just ensuring a nice hotel stay, or a wonderful meal. After traveling and working around Europe, Claire felt a call to go back to her roots, and study complementary health; For at the age of 16, Claire was brought into the world of Reiki, and the passion of helping others had grown from there.
Moving to Los Angeles, and studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Yo San University, one of southern California’s most academically challenging Masters' programs, was the beginning of a world wide adventure for Claire. Over 3000 hours of study and clinical experience, graduating with honors, and many rigorous licensing exams later, in February of 2012, she obtained her Masters degree, License from the State of California, and her National Certification to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine.
During her time at Yo San, she interned at the Venice Family Clinic in LA, the largest free clinic in the country, and after graduation, traveled through China where she interned in the Cardiology ward of the Xi Yuan Teaching Hospital in Beijing. From there, she moved to New Caledonia where she operated a private practice, traveled through India and Bali, volunteered in Nepal, moved to France, and is now getting back to her roots in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Claire has continued practicing during her time abroad, and has only been inspired to work harder to empower people to take charge of their lives and their health. Working with Osteopaths, Massage therapists, Yoga instructors, and many others along the way, Claire has been shown the importance of collaborating. She states “Every body is unique, and each therapist can bring new vision, and clearer understanding of the body's unique imbalances. Working with other therapists only enhances the healing!”
From a TCM perspective every one is unique, and every treatment plan should reflect that individuality. Claire aims to not only treat her patients, but to guide, teach, empower, support, and work together to figure out the patients imbalances, their definition of health, and the way to get there.
In August of 2015, following the April earthquake in Nepal, Claire was offered an opportunity to do some volunteer work with Nepal Pain Relief Project. Claire arrived in Etay, near Kathmandu, at Namo Buddha Higher Secondary school, and for one month was the primary acupuncturist at the school clinic. Managing and working the clinic while speaking very limited Nepalese was an adventure, but was an experience that put to test not only her ability as an acupuncturist, but also as a business manager. With the help of the founder of the school, the principal, and the very eager students, the clinic was a complete success! Treating on average 50 patients a day, with over 730 treatments given during her time there, Claire treated everything from pain, and emotional trauma, to digestive issues.
Claire on volunteering in Nepal:
“Nepal changed me. It was not only the most amazing, love filled experience of my life, but it made me more passionate about what I do. It fuelled my desire to give back to the community, no matter where the community is, and confirmed my sentiment that Love is the greatest Healer. Well, besides Acupuncture! :) After treating an average of 50 patients a day, giving over 730 treatments in a month, I imagined I would be tired... but I was only more energized! Acupuncture Rocks, and so does Nepal, the Nepalese, and Volunteer work! Life Changing!”
